PILOT NEWS
The casting for CBS pilot Los Duques written by Cynthia Cidre reads like a whos who of Latino Hollywood. With Jimmy Smits, Nestor Carbonell, Rita Moreno and Hector Elizondo leading the cast, this generational drama about a Latino family who works together to operate a rum business also introduces some young talent including Eddie Matos and Jonathon Trent.

Newcomer Yara Martinez (Vanished) has come aboard Fox's drama pilot The Apostles a crime/drama about cops whose job pressures spill over into their private lives.

Miguel Ferrer who plays Dr. Garret Macy on NBC’s Crossing Jordan has been signed to star alongside Chris Bowers in NBC's pilot The Bionic Woman the adaptation of the 1970s spinoff of Lee Majors' signature series, The Six Million Dollar Man. Ferrer will play the head honcho and a good guy the secret government agency. I guess this confirms the fate of Crossing Jordan…se fini.

PICKED UP
Meanwhile the list of series that have been picked up include Sci Fi’s Battlestar Galactica (Edward James Olmos keeps his job) with an increase order from 13 5o 22 episodes. Season Four kicks off early next year. Ugly Betty (did you have any doubts) which just picked up yet another award for Outstanding Television Comedy Series at the GLAAD Awards was given an early pick up last month as well as Desperate Housewives and Grey’s Anatomy (Ricardo Chavia, Eva Longoria and Sara Ramirez will continue to grace the small tube).
